maybe the auto execs can score some brownie points with this…

but have you heard about pilots n’ paws a charity dedicated to saving animals in need.  a group of pilots uses a website message board to find at-risk animals living in kill shelters homes in no kill shelters around the country.  the group’s co-founder jon wehrenberg of knoxville, tenn a retired manufacturing executive and weekend pilot, said “these are wonderful dogs that simply had the bad luck of winding up in a place where there are too many pets in shelters.”  wehrenberg and administrative assistant, dawn thompson, are trying to get the group non-profit status to help pay for the costs associated with running the organization such as gas prices and equipment maintenance.  but, if it doesn’t work out, that’s ok too.  michele mcguire, a participating pilot from maryland  says “doggy kisses are worth the $6 a gallon.”

given the earlier faux pas (hee hee)–supporting a charity like this should be part of the auto industry’s upcoming plan.  i’m just saying.
