carribbean vacation
months ago when people made their vacation plans for a nice royal carribbean, they never could’ve guessed that they’re now in the middle of a small controversy. for you see, royal caribbean has made a decision to continue on its regular sailing route, including a stop at a haitian port, labadee. ladabee is about 85 miles south of port-au-prince and is a private resort leased by the cruise line.
said one person “I am on the 1/30 sailing of the NOS [Navigator of the Seas] and have been having conflicting emotions about our stop there…” another said “It’s not my fault nor will my not going ashore make any difference to those that have been affected by the earthquake.”
a poll on a cruise travel website show that 65% of people believe the ships should continue to dock as they’re bringing financial and food aid. the cruise line will be donating net revenue from money spent at the resort to charity and will also be delivery food during its stops. so if you happen to be one of those headed there, pick some a couple more trinkets. if you’re not, there’s still plenty of ways to help.
