double the bobby

starting may 31st, you’ll have another channel to watch if you like shows about food or cooking. scripps network interactive, parent to food network, announced the lineup last week to its new channel, cooking channel. “The tone and the style and the feel that we’re going for is a little grittier, a little younger, a little more contemporary,” said bruce seidel, the new channel’s svp for programming and production. since its launch in 1993, food network has been at the forefront on food tv programming but the field has gotten more competitive with bravo (top chef), pbs and others slowly pushing their way in. shows on the new channel will include the usual food network fare/celebrities ( michael symon, tyler florence, bobby flay), some new imported shows (food jammers from canda and indian food made easy from england), and re-airing some old classics like julia child and the galloping gourmet.

network was the 9th highest rated cable network in prime time across all age groups. it’ll be interesting to see if there are enough viewers for two food channels.

MORE INA GARTNER!!!

unfortunately it doesn’t seem like ina is one of the ones doubling up.. but we’ll see

I love her show. No yelling, no “BAM!”, no bad southern drawl.
I like “Good Eats,” too. Alton Brown is the quirkiest!
