dove is clean
here’s a follow up to 180’s i’m not that fat… story.
dove, annie leibovitz, and pascal dangin (the guy who started all this) have stated that the photos from the dove real beauty campaign have not been digitally altered. dove says that the real women campaign was done by ogilvy and that they did not employ dangin.
how does dangin fit into all this you ask? dangin worked with annie leibovitz, who was hire to shoot the dove proage campaign, a new campaign within the real beauty campaign. dove, leibovitz and dangin all state that no retouching was done on the proage campaign and that only dust removal and minor color corrections were done.
dangin says of the whole mess: “The recent article published in the new yorker incorrectly implies that I retouched the images in connection with the Dove ‘real women’ ad. I only worked on the Dove ProAge campaign taken by Annie Leibovitz, and was directed only to remove dust and do color correction both the integrity of the photographs and the women’s natural beauty were maintained.”
it’s not wonder we’re all so quick to believe there photos were doctored. below are some recent, and obviously, altered photos.
gwyneth paltrow on the cover of the may issue of vogue. her head looks like it’s separated from her body.

tina fey on the cover of may 2008. she’s so polished, she’s almost unrecognizable.

britney spears on the cover of the march 2008 issue of blender. her head but not her body.

a less subtle and a little older. faith hill on the july 2007 issue of redbook. the original photo on the left, the altered (and thinner) faith on the right.
