duck and cover
it’s getting harder and harder to make a living as a public speaker. not only do you need to be a dynamic, eloquent speaker and a subject expert (and i use the term subject expert loosely), it seems that lately, being quick on your feet is helpful too.
just the other day during a lecture at a university in budapest, steve ballmer was attacked with eggs by an anti-microsoft student. luckily for him, he’s quick on his feet and they missed him.
a few weeks ago, thomas friedman ended up wearing some pie during a speech on energy at brown university. unfortunately for friedman, there was no where for him to duck and cover like ballmer.
