oh doctor, doctor can’t you see i’m burning?

homersimpsonso here’s an interesting tidbit i came across on time.com. tom daschle, who appeared on  meet the press sunday for a debate on healthcare (the one where rachel maddow raked armey over the coals), works for a high law firm that works closely with health insurance lobbyists for unitedhealth, the largest health insurance company in the united states.  apparently daschle, “a liberal from south dakota, dropped out of the running to be obama’s secretary of health & human services after disclosures that he failed to pay taxes on perks given to him by a private client. he advised unitedhealth in 2007 and 2008 and resumed that role this year. daschle personally advocates a government-run competitor to private insurers. but he sells his expertise to unitedhealth, which opposes any such public insurance plan. among the services daschle offers are tips on the personalities and policy proclivities of members of congress he has known for decades.” when on meet the press he failed to disclose this relationship.

howard dean is also on the payroll of companies tied to healthcare.  it says, “howard dean, the former head of the democratic national committeeand an outspoken advocate for the public option, works for a lobbying firm, mckenna long and aldrich, that has a number of health industry clients, mostly in the field of biologic pharmaceuticals. he has been known to use his public position to further the interests of his clients, as he did in this op-ed for the hill.”  unlike daschle, dean usually reveals his relationships.

what’s next, are we going to find out that dreams of my father was sponsored by ambien?
