i guess sales didn’t purr

when i heard this story, this clip was the first thing i looked for. unlike this unhappy ending, volkswagon announced that it would kill the rabbit and go back to marketing the golf. according to this report in the new york times, “vw decided sales of the vehicle didn’t get the lift the company expected when it revived the iconic nameplate in 2006. so the rabbit name is out.” the rabbit was first introduced in the us 1975 and was sold under that name until 1984 when they switched to the golf”.

something tells me the scene in fatal attraction wouldn’t have had the same effect if she’d tossed his golf clubs into the drink.
