one container, many uses
this morning was met with the news of the passing in, what i like to consider, the comfort food industry. wilber hardee, founder of hardee’s died of a heart attack at the age of 89. some other greats we’ve said goodbye this year include:
· Baskin Robbins founder Irvine Robbins at 90
· Fatburger founder Lovie Yancey at 96
· Carl’s Jr founder Carl Karcher at 90
· Popeye’s Fried Chicken founder Al Copeland at 64

the topping (get it? topping? ice cream topping, burger topping, etc?) for me, and probably the least known, has been the passing of fredric bauer. bauer created the tubular can that protects and allows the famous pringles potato crisps to stack so nicely and guarantee an almost perfect chip everytime. bauer was so proud of his creation that he asked his family to bury him in it. apparently besides holding pringles, the can can be used as an urn, a camera, a wifi antenna and for the environmentally conscious, a solar oven. i would not, however, suggest you put a cat in there.
