the throwbacks
you would think that with all the marketing dollars behind pepsico, they could’ve come up with a better name than pepsi throwback and mountain dew throwback. these versions of the classics (pepsi and mountain dew) will be available for a limited time from late april to mid june and will be made with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.
sugar sweetened pepsi is not new, it’s been available during the passover season (corn syrup is a no-no during passover) along with coke for some time now but it’s the first time pepsi will be actively marketing it as a separate product. other sugar sweetened formulas for pepsi are beginning tested in the uk (pepsi raw) and mexico (pepsi retro). with the move to market these throwback formulas as separate products, it might not be long before we see some pepsi products made with the real deal permanently available here in the states.
