<p>i&#8217;m sad to write that after a couple years and close to 1,200 posts today is the last day of delivering the <strong>news you can use </strong>here at sacred bird. while i&#8217;ve loved posting here about news you can use, <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/author/630/">630 </a>and i think it&#8217;s time to pack it in. from our <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/bird-watching/breezy-not/">first post</a>, to the <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/?s=beijing&amp;x=0&amp;y=0">beijing olympics</a>, to our coverage of <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/category/politics-and-government/">politics </a>and <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/tag/fashion/">fashion</a>, we&#8217;ve tried to give a lighter side of the news and to keep you informed and sounding brilliant at <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/business-and-economy/from-100000-feet-should-we-run-it-up-the-flag-pole/">work </a>or at your next &#8220;whatever.&#8221;  i wish i could say that i&#8217;ve parlayed my love of news into a gig at the <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/?s=daily+show&amp;x=0&amp;y=0">daily show</a>, or even better, a stint alongside <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/tag/anderson-cooper/">anderson cooper</a> but that hasn&#8217;t happened yet&#8211;i&#8217;ll be back though, just you wait and see. so in parting, i&#8217;ll leave you with one of the ultimate goodbyes&#8211;the one where k-k-k-katie says &#8217;see ya&#8217; to her one true love hubbell. the memories of sacred bird will, um, continue to light the corners of my mind.  thank you, dear reader (not plural) for keeping an eye on the <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/about-sb/"> news you can use</a>.</p>

<li>some young moguls decided to <a href="../../../../../business-and-economy/why-didnt-they-do-a-deal-with-mcdonalds/">give some</a> play for play at starbucks. but you should probably stay away from <a href="../../../../../culture/peppermint-fatty/">this</a>.</li>
<li>people started prepping for andy’s <a href="../../../../../bird-watching/celebrating-andy/">birthday</a>. google <a href="../../../../../business-and-economy/ready-set-go/">celebrated</a> pac-man’s 30th.</li>

<p>we at sacred bird bring you the <em><strong>news you can</strong></em> use every day in any situation&#8211;a tidbit of news that may or may not have been  reported by the big-time news media but brought to the forefront of your news-seeking mind via <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/SacredBird">rss</a>, <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/about-sb/subscribe/">email</a>, or <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/sacredbird/38619737424">facebook</a>. each week we bring you the best in <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/category/business-and-economy/">business</a>, <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/category/science-and-technology/">science and technology</a>, <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/category/politics-and-government/">politics and government</a>, <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/category/media/">media</a>, the <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/category/world/">world </a>and <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/category/culture/">culture</a>&#8211;anything that catches our mind that we think you should know about.  for example, here it is, packaged up in this little weekend edition&#8211;the week that was ending april 12, 2010.</p>
<p><strong>in media</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>sarah palin hit the tv waves in <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/whats-on-tv/">many ways</a>.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>in world</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>an american mother showed off her great skills by <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/is-this-considered-regifting/">returning her kid</a> to the russians.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>in business and economy</strong></p>
<ul>

<li>it was confirmed that it&#8217;s <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/spanking-and-aggression/">not a good idea</a> to hit your kids, even if it is with a good looking shoe.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>in science and technology</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>lots of things had the potential to make you sick.  3dtv may be cool but it also bring on <a href="../business-and-economy/all-i-can-think-of-is-that-scene-from-stand-by-me/">symptoms</a> like bad cramps and migraines . <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/business-and-economy/you-might-be-better-off-with-the-meat/">lay off</a> of the processed soy it&#8217;s full of toxin, and a fall off of the wii fit board made one lady a <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/science-and-technology/wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii/">nympho</a>.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>in politics and government</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>a poll <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/politics-and-government/just-like-the-founding-fathers/">revealed </a>some interesting facts about the members of the tea party; the president made way for every kind of person to<a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/business-and-economy/your-gay-partner-can-now-pull-the-plug/"> join in</a> health decision making.</li>

<p>yahooooooooooo! we turned a corner here on the east coast and spring is finally here! yahoo! it was an interesting week in news here at sacred bird and we wanted to remind you of some stories you can share while you drinking at sidewalk cafes, rejoining your running group after a period of hibernation, and or going to get your nails done now that you can wear flip-flops to and from.  here&#8217;s the week that was ending april 2, 2010 here at sacred bird.</p>
<ul>
<li>the census form was due this week and that idiot congresswoman michelle bachmann says you shouldn&#8217;t fill it out (it&#8217;s against the law not to). if you haven&#8217;t filled it out, here are some reasons you <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/politics-and-government/time-for-census/">should</a>.</li>
<li>ford <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/business-and-economy/7772/">took a bath</a> on the volvo deal.</li>
<li>a stingy couple got busted for &#8216;<a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/glad-it-was-the-powder-not-the-cups/">puddin</a>&#8216; weird ingredients in dessert treats. it may be for the better anyway because research <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/use-a-slowhand/">says</a> that fattening foods are like crack.  really.</li>
<li>the lady responsible for the vampire craze is <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/probably-no-wolves-in-this-one/">penning</a> another book.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/tag/anderson-cooper/">andy cooper</a>&#8217;s network <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/bird-watching/jonah360/">is tanking</a> and maybe that&#8217;s why he went swimming with the sharks. he&#8217;s a sacred (and some may say regal) bird so we know he&#8217;ll survive.</li>

<p>i&#8217;m not sure about you but i&#8217;m overjoyed that spring has finally sprung in these parts. while spring means the coming of summer, it also brings on the end of the series <a href="http://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&amp;ai=COKO6PrSuS5uoAomFmQenuaA_1LXqngGIj9-XE9ucpfgCCAAQASC2VFDH5t2mBmDJhqOH1KOAEMgBAaoEHk_Q-4PhuKUOFLfVS5sMVAGChwK6bNgBf1wKZcYsr4AFkE4&amp;sig=AGiWqtzAUaf6l1-i57HR7UfbXROBLlmFpw&amp;q=http://38.xg4ken.com/media/redir.php%3Fprof%3D15%26camp%3D771%26affcode%3Dcr29976%26cid%3D5054880048%26networkType%3Dsearch%26CID%3Dgoogle_sem_1%26url%5B%5D%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fabc.go.com%252Fwatch%252Flost%252F93372">lost</a>&#8211;stick with me here about how this relates to the news as reported by sacred bird this week. according to the many <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/?s=facebook&amp;x=0&amp;y=0">facebook </a>posts this week many people have been confused about how it all will end and the stories that are being told in this final season. is it time travel? are they in hell? what&#8217;s the smoke monster? who is the man in black?  well, for some reason this had me thinking about the stories we reported this week.  here is the lost version of the <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/category/sacred-bird/">news you can</a> use as was reported by the folks here at sacred bird the week ending march 25, 2010. here&#8217;s what we learned:</p>
<ul>
<li>in what would seem alternate universe, our love <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/tag/anderson-cooper/">anderson</a> cooper <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/bird-watching/anderson-cooper-left-up-in-smoke/">lost </a>a game of whits to a pot smoking old dude.</li>
<li>the president, along with his crew, <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/politics-and-government/bill-finally-becomes-law-today/">revolted </a>against <em>the others</em> and got the health care bill passed.</li>
<li>to pass the time in new jersey band of knitters <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/having-a-ball/">decorated tree branches</a></li>
<li>don&#8217;t swallow a pill until <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/science-and-technology/what-poison/">you know</a> what&#8217;s in it</li>
<li>no matter where you go, someone <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/think-before-you-upload/">is documenting</a> every move you make</li>

<p>hello loyal sacred bird readers.  this past week there was lots of news that can be used to impress your friends, colleagues, and loved ones at dinner, brunch, and the gym or wherever you find yourself this weekend.  when you tell one of the stories, remember to tell your friends where you got the word, from the awesome website that is sacred bird.</p>
<ul>
<li>an american-born terrorist <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/politics-and-government/i-bet-they-kicked-him-in-the-karachi/">was</a>, and then wasn&#8217;t caught in pakistan.</li>
<li>lots of <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/media/in-case-you-missed-it/">rumors </a>about shakeups at the major news networks abounded.</li>
<li>a couple in korea had a <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/science-and-technology/couple-neglects-baby/">huge problem</a> with reality. virtual idiots, they are.</li>
<li>we <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/wonder-if-george-is-worried/">didn&#8217;t see</a> one very famous dead person at the oscars.</li>
<li>you can only <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/?s=twitter&amp;x=0&amp;y=0">tweet </a>140 characters but you <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/media/the-voice-of-chicago-is-now-censored/">can&#8217;t say</a> 119 words on one chicago radio station.</li>
<li>more people who don&#8217;t need guns <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/they-shouldve-at-least-made-some-signs/">got them</a>.</li>

<ul>
<li>another boring interview (this time in <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/media/bill-hemmer-in-15-minutes/">video format</a>) with fox morning news anchor bill hemmer. i&#8217;m thinking this dude needs to go on another around the world trip because he hasn&#8217;t told a new story about his life in 20 years.</li>
<li>miss america got <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/theres-always-youtube/">dumped</a>.</li>
<li>some kids overseas took a bite of an apple. it <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/business-and-economy/apple-talent-management/">wasn&#8217;t candied.</a></li>
<li>speaking of fruit, no one wanted <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/fashion-is-important-but-this-is-ridiculous/">the juice</a>.</li>
<li>we eat well, but don&#8217;t <a href="../culture/chipotle/">say so</a>.</li>
<li>jay got <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/some-people-dont-agree-jay/">heckled</a> in cyberspace.</li>
<li>somethings <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/culture/the-new-facebook/">edging in </a>on the macarena.</li>

<p><strong>politics and politicians </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>who doesn’t like a good joke? <a href="../../../../../politics-and-government/dick-can-i-sit-in-the-way-way-back/">this picture</a> of the former president made for a good laugh.  and this was before the whole “<a href="../../../../../politics-and-government/you-dont-need-a-passport-to-go-to-six-flags/">breaking in to the passport database</a>” scandal from way way back.</li>
<li>art classes for terrorists was one of the rehabilitation plans put in place by the tough on crime conservatives. this one popped up in the news a year after we wrote about it, but remember, we <a href="../../../../../politics-and-government/this-is-way-better-than-poland/">covered it</a> here first.</li>
<li>remember the election? remember rudy giuliani? if you have 10 minutes take a trip down memory lane and remember why ‘mr. 911’ <a href="../../../../../election-08/rnc-day-3-it-was-like-watching-stand-up-at-the-rotary-club/">lost </a>the election.</li>
<li>speaking of elections, remember the lipstick on the pig thing? here was <a href="../../../../../culture/i-dont-even-wear-lipstick/">our take</a> on it.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>culture</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>living in big cities, I’ve grown to loathe hate bugs and rats. the story of this lady suing rupie for the bug infestation at fox news had me <a href="../../../../../business-and-economy/why-you-buggin/">bugging out</a>.</li>
<li>office <a href="../../../../../business-and-economy/from-100000-feet-should-we-run-it-up-the-flag-pole/">lingo </a>is annoying and people know it.</li>
<li>everyone could use a <a href="../../../../../culture/we-could-use-a-booklet-too/">refresher </a>on manners.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>hotty-hotness</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>everyone knows that <a href="http://www.sacredbird.com/tag/anderson-cooper/">anderson cooper</a> is the hottest man on tv and donna brazile said it <a href="../../../../../bird-watching/i-want-to-be-your-boo/">out loud</a>.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>news you can use</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>and finally,a friend told me he sent <a href="../../../../../business-and-economy/go-shorty/">this article</a> to a friend. That was a signal that we were sharing some news you call could use.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>please feel free to tell us which ones were your favorites and which ones you could have done without</strong>.</p>
