i’m sad to write that after a couple years and close to 1,200 posts today is the last day of delivering the news you can use here at sacred bird. while i’ve loved posting here about news you can use, 630 and i think it’s time to pack it in. from our first post, to the beijing olympics, to our coverage of politics and fashion, we’ve tried to give a lighter side of the news and to keep you informed and sounding brilliant at work or at your next “whatever.”  i wish i could say that i’ve parlayed my love of news into a gig at the daily show, or even better, a stint alongside anderson cooper but that hasn’t happened yet–i’ll be back though, just you wait and see. so in parting, i’ll leave you with one of the ultimate goodbyes–the one where k-k-k-katie says ’see ya’ to her one true love hubbell. the memories of sacred bird will, um, continue to light the corners of my mind.  thank you, dear reader (not plural) for keeping an eye on the news you can use.

• some young moguls decided to give some play for play at starbucks. but you should probably stay away from this.
• people started prepping for andy’s birthday. google celebrated pac-man’s 30^th.
• campbell brown threw in the towel at cnn. congressman souder threw in the towel in washington.
• the president had a fiesta and some rats tried to sneak in under the radar.

• a poll revealed some interesting facts about the members of the tea party; the president made way for every kind of person to join in health decision making.

another day, another dollar–though with the rise in unemployment claims this week, not sure the dollars will be flowing.  now that the weather has broken and you can do more things cost free like taking a long walk, hiking a local mountain, or entertaining at home, or visiting with the great anderson cooper you’ll need a few stories to keep the conversation interesting.  here’s a recap of the week that was ending april 8, 2010 here at sacred bird–it’s news news you can use to keep it interesting.  enjoy.

yahooooooooooo! we turned a corner here on the east coast and spring is finally here! yahoo! it was an interesting week in news here at sacred bird and we wanted to remind you of some stories you can share while you drinking at sidewalk cafes, rejoining your running group after a period of hibernation, and or going to get your nails done now that you can wear flip-flops to and from.  here’s the week that was ending april 2, 2010 here at sacred bird.

• the census form was due this week and that idiot congresswoman michelle bachmann says you shouldn’t fill it out (it’s against the law not to). if you haven’t filled it out, here are some reasons you should.
• ford took a bath on the volvo deal.
• a stingy couple got busted for ‘puddin‘ weird ingredients in dessert treats. it may be for the better anyway because research says that fattening foods are like crack.  really.
• the lady responsible for the vampire craze is penning another book.
• andy cooper’s network is tanking and maybe that’s why he went swimming with the sharks. he’s a sacred (and some may say regal) bird so we know he’ll survive.

i’m not sure about you but i’m overjoyed that spring has finally sprung in these parts. while spring means the coming of summer, it also brings on the end of the series lost–stick with me here about how this relates to the news as reported by sacred bird this week. according to the many facebook posts this week many people have been confused about how it all will end and the stories that are being told in this final season. is it time travel? are they in hell? what’s the smoke monster? who is the man in black?  well, for some reason this had me thinking about the stories we reported this week.  here is the lost version of the news you can use as was reported by the folks here at sacred bird the week ending march 25, 2010. here’s what we learned:

• in what would seem alternate universe, our love anderson cooper lost a game of whits to a pot smoking old dude.
• the president, along with his crew, revolted against the others and got the health care bill passed.
• to pass the time in new jersey band of knitters decorated tree branches
• don’t swallow a pill until you know what’s in it
• no matter where you go, someone is documenting every move you make
• the others are organizing to revolt again but this time they’re not wearing clothing from the dharma initiative
• we may know why the man in black is motivated
• anchor man bill hemmer got stuck in a worm-hole loopy thing and told the same story for the 1 millionth time.
• you thought you were going to be saved, guess again

hello loyal sacred bird readers.  this past week there was lots of news that can be used to impress your friends, colleagues, and loved ones at dinner, brunch, and the gym or wherever you find yourself this weekend.  when you tell one of the stories, remember to tell your friends where you got the word, from the awesome website that is sacred bird.

• an american-born terrorist was, and then wasn’t caught in pakistan.
• lots of rumors about shakeups at the major news networks abounded.
• a couple in korea had a huge problem with reality. virtual idiots, they are.
• we didn’t see one very famous dead person at the oscars.
• you can only tweet 140 characters but you can’t say 119 words on one chicago radio station.
• more people who don’t need guns got them.

• another boring interview (this time in video format) with fox morning news anchor bill hemmer. i’m thinking this dude needs to go on another around the world trip because he hasn’t told a new story about his life in 20 years.
• miss america got dumped.
• some kids overseas took a bite of an apple. it wasn’t candied.
• speaking of fruit, no one wanted the juice.
• we eat well, but don’t say so.
• jay got heckled in cyberspace.
• somethings edging in on the macarena.

politics and politicians

• who doesn’t like a good joke? this picture of the former president made for a good laugh.  and this was before the whole “breaking in to the passport database” scandal from way way back.
• art classes for terrorists was one of the rehabilitation plans put in place by the tough on crime conservatives. this one popped up in the news a year after we wrote about it, but remember, we covered it here first.
• remember the election? remember rudy giuliani? if you have 10 minutes take a trip down memory lane and remember why ‘mr. 911’ lost the election.
• speaking of elections, remember the lipstick on the pig thing? here was our take on it.

culture

• living in big cities, I’ve grown to loathe hate bugs and rats. the story of this lady suing rupie for the bug infestation at fox news had me bugging out.
• office lingo is annoying and people know it.
• everyone could use a refresher on manners.

hotty-hotness

• everyone knows that anderson cooper is the hottest man on tv and donna brazile said it out loud.
