if you’re near new york or want a last minute weekend day, consider hitting new york city because it is hands-down one of the best weekends to be there–not for the super annoying halloween parade but for the 40th running of the new york city marathon on sunday. from any one of the five bouroughs, spectators can get a close-up look at the course and cheer on the road warriors that have trained since at least july. every year there is certain buzz about which celebs are running, so i did a little research and found some peeps you should look for:
- edward norton, david blaine, and allanis morrisette will be running for the maasai wilderness conservation trust recently covered on 60 minutes.
- anthony edwards, sarah jones, and james legros will be running for the popular shoe for africa organization
- matthew reeve will run in honor of his parents and for the christopher and dana reeve foundation
- olympic gold medal-winning speed skater dan jansen of gold medal speed skating fame will run with former hocky star pat lafontaine will run for ing’s run for something better
- peter sagal (of wait wait…don’t tell me) is raising money for the healthy schools campaign
- prince pieter christiaan michiel of denmark will run for the world wildlife fund
- rocker nikolai fraiture of the strokes team for kids
get out there and cheer on the celebs and the regular people running from staten island to central park. it really is one of the best days ever.
