have you caught the debut eposide of mtv’s jersey shore? jersey shore is the new mtv series with 8 20somethings hanging out for the summer at seaside heights, new jersey. it’s like real world except the 20somethings are all italian americans who are being billed as “the hottest, tannest, craziest guidos” who “keep their hair high and their muscles juiced” . unfortunately, or fortunately, for mtv, the show seems to ruffled some feathers. even before the show aired, unico, a italian american service organization, called for the show to be pulled because it felt the show was degrading. now that the show has aired, mtv staff are reportedly getting death threats (although mtv is denying the claim) and dominos has reportedly pulled its advertising from the show.
jersey shore visitor’s bureau are not fans either. “MTV is providing a one-dimensional, dramatized version of a very small group of visitors’ summer experiences in one Jersey Shore town” said daniel cappello, the executive director of the jersey shore convention and visitors bureau.
i don’t know about you but i think i might be able to find some time in my thursday night viewing schedule to check it out.
