happy hump day (again)

i love these wednesday stories. last sunday about 9,000 monks clad only in loincloths joined in a free-for-all at a buddhist temple in search of sacred wood. the event, held at the saidaiji temple in okayama, japan was part of the 500th anniversary of the festival called saidaiji eyo. the event began with a cold water purification ritual and at midnight, the monks turned off the lights and dropped the two 8-inch sticks among them and the struggle for the wood began. there was no word as to whether they played any other old games.
