high brow raises an eyebrow

feedoperafor the first time in the history of new york’s metropolitan opera, the audience booed the production team headed by switzerland’s luc bondy because his production strayed greatly from the very famous and familiar production of puccini’s tosca.  according to an account in the huffington post the production team’s ” appearance on stage at the end turned what had been a standing ovation for the cast into a raucous protest, prompting the management to bring down the curtain.” here is a list of some of the infractions:

no word if the opera will undergo some changes to avoid similar outbursts in the remaining 15 showings. if rich aristocrats behave like this in public, is it surprising that people like serena williams, joe wilson, and kanye west don’t put their best foot forward?

i wonder what alex and simon (famous opera goers and cast members of the real housewives of new york and pictured here) thought?
