how to spend your unemployment check

the new york times published the top 44 places to visit in 2009 (does 44 coincide with the number of our new president?). even though we can’t or shouldn’t afford it, the pictures are pretty enough to maybe tide us over. you can get the full list here, i’ve listed the ones that caught my eye. wherever you go, you must adhere to anderson cooper’s travel tips.
phuket, thailand – glad to see that the place is making it’s way back over four years after the tsunami. it’s the “luxury destination of the year.”
dakar, senegal – people rave about the culture and the music. winter and summer you can indulge in music festivals.
chicago, illinois – winter sucks but the food there is killer (very inventive), the architecture is spectacular, it’s clean, oh and, a day game at wrigley in summer is the closest you’ll get to paradise.
cuba – if they open cuba (pron. cooba) i’m blowing my unemployment check on a trip there. i mean, dirty dancing 2 was shot down there.
dallas, tx – now that 43’s back, isn’t it time we messed with texas? i hear they have an amusement park there.
