i thought switzerland was neutral?
that’s what roman polanski thought when he hopped over the border to pick up an achievement award in once neutral switzerland. he was picked up on a 31 year old charge related to him having sex with a 13 year old child in the united states. polanski pled guilty to the charges and then fled the us in 1978 to avoid jail time, he hasn’t set foot in america since. the victim of the crime, samantha geimer said in the past that she wants the charges dropped because the on-going discussion of the crime causes harm to her, her kids, and her husband.
the arrest has interesting timing, given that susan atkins, one of the women convicted of killing polanski’s wife, sharon tate as part of the charlie manson family murders just died at the age of 61.
