messed with the wrong tiger

Gillette ad 544.366there’s been considerable outrage overseas related to the world cup qualifying match between france and ireland.  seems that france won in the last minute, avoiding a shoot off, but only because hotty-pants player thierry henry slipped a hand ball by the refs and into the net.  henri says that while he’s sorry for ireland, the win was fair because the refs didn’t see it.  the rest of the world (including 66% of french responding to a poll in le monde) says that france blows and the game should be replayed (or at least, it dims the light on france’s qualification). people have even started a petition to boycott gilette (for whom henry does commercials along side tiger woods and roger federer) and it’s touching politics–nicolas sarkozy apologized to the irish president saying he felt ‘bad’ for the country. this comes at a particularly bad time for ireland (up until recently, known as the celtic tiger).  the country has been brought to it’s knees because of the financial crisis.

my bet is that this christmas the henry voodoo doll outsells the sarkozy one.
