oh bugger off
advertisers in great britain are on a roll this week. in addition to the ad we featured earlier, another ad popped up and angered the people there–it read “career women make bad mothers.” about it, one woman said “I am completely disgusted; the words completely put women down. In this day and age women do work and run families, they should be applauded.” this ad, along with others was designed to show the power of outdoor advertising and its ability to drive people onto the interwebs to a site called britainthinks.com “created to give people a new voice and support the vibrant democracy that the people of Britain already participate in up and down the country – in the pubs, living rooms and street corners of our nation.” when they arrive there people can upload videos sharing their opinions on a number of topics like business, politics, showbiz, and sport (i love how the british call it sport not sport).
not surprisingly, the ads have had the opposite effect and have been pulled from circulation. so in essence, the ads were put in ‘time out.’
