the church of scientology has had a rough week so it may be a little bit of trouble keeping scientology working (or ksw for short). first, the french fined the french branch of the church close to $1M big ones for fraud–”investigators said the group pressured members into paying large sums of money for questionable financial gain and used “commercial harassment” against recruits” and then paul haggis, the man responsible for the movie crash ditched the organization for its stand against gays “i could not, in good conscience, be a member of an organization where gay-bashing was tolerated” he wrote in a letter to scientology spokesperson tommy davis.
scientology, the religion of choice for the travoltas, tom cruise, kirstie alley, and others is no stranger to controversy but davis insists that claims about the church are unfounded “the church supports civil rights for everybody, regardless of sexual orientation, race, color or creed. We are a minority, too; we understand what it’s like to be persecuted, so to the extent that anything prohibits or inhibits on civil rights, we don’t agree with it.”
so far there has been no word on this from tom cruise but something in this video makes me think he’d say it was spectators talking out of turn.
