snuggling up with a good book?
there’s nothing better than getting into bed with a good read. and there’s nothing better than the crinkle sound that emanates from a library book. if you recall, carrie bradshaw’s character in sex and the city: the movie said the sound and the smell are one of her favorite things.
news came this week that president george washington liked to borrow them too. in fact, back in 1789 seems our president was interested in some light reading and he borrowed some books from the new york society library– “The library’s ledgers show that Washington took out the books on 5 October 1789, some five months into his presidency at a time when New York was still the capital. They were an essay on international affairs called Law of Nations and the twelfth volume of a 14-volume collection of debates from the English House of Commons.”
he forgot to return them.
which means he rack-up $300,000 big ones in late fees. luckily the society doesn’t expect to collect on the late fees, they just want the books back. i’m sure the books aren’t worth much at all–at most a couple of benjamins and that one of the washingtons of new york would be happy to give them back.
