sometimes we just want to hear the song…

this is what i’d say to the artists that feel the need to express themselves and deviate from the program. for example:

bono hewson
- the love of my life–(even higher up than sacred bird)–often feels compelled to ruin a perfectly good song by talking about some political injustice that he believes we should all know about. i totally agree that most of the causes you talk about are important, but when i’m seeing you 6 times in a week, and paying $200 a pop–i could go for just a damn song. plus, you know i worship you but it must be said– it’s hard to take you seriously when you say it in your 4 inch lifts and you’re faux sunshields (sun glasses).

well now even even the little people are doing it. take ms. rene martin–fool was in the big blue and brown state of colorado (kidding) and pulled in her words, a “switcheroonie” by singing the black national anthem instead of the national anthem she was asked (and probably paid) to sing. now, before i get called out for being inappropriate or insensitive or something, what if she sang the czech national anthem? would be totally weird, right?

so, please remember dear artists–sometimes we just want to hear the song. we don’t always need you mostly uneducated people to educate us about the issues near and dear to my heart.

i promise, if and when i see you, i won’t talk your ear off about my passion for the news and anderson cooper, our president, or whatever else is on my mind that day.
