stress driving you to drink and smoke?
the upcoming election and the financial market implosion has to be driving people to drown their sorrows and puff away the pain. as we know, since smoking in public was banned years ago in new york and elsewhere, one can’t easily enjoy the drinks with the smokes. until now. the chinese have developed the tobacco-free electronic cigarette (or e-cigarette). said to have many benefits (helps people kick the regular cigarette habit, eliminates the nasty side effects like lung cancer) it’s beginning to grown in popularity in big cities like london. people can smoke off of the metal stick with the blue light that emits a cigarette-like smoke on exhale at bars without breaking the law. sounds delightful, right?
before you try to make some fast money by introducing them here in the u.s.a., consider that the world health organization (w.h.o.) thinks the e-smokes are a drag (he he). in a press release issued last month, the organization said “the electronic cigarette is not a proven nicotine replacement therapy,” said dr ala alwan, assistant director-general of who’s noncommunicable diseases and mental health cluster. “w.h.o. has no scientific evidence to confirm the product’s safety and efficacy. its marketers should immediately remove from their web sites and other informational materials any suggestion that who considers it to be a safe and effective smoking cessation aid.”
i say, be like nancy reagan, the wife of the greatest president of all time, and “just say no”.
