tasteless and offensive…
that’s how people are describing the artwork on the cover of this week’s new yorker. i think people are just mad that their private thoughts have been illustrated. i have a friend who loves this quote from 30 rock–it goes something like this: “there’s an 80% percent chance that in the next election i’ll tell my friends i’m voting for barack bbama but i’ll really vote for john mccain.”
the magazine’s editor, david demnick explained to the the huffington post that the image was meant to “hold up a mirror to the prejudice and dark imaginings about Barack Obama’s — both Obamas’ — past, and their politics.”
what do you think?

it’s not satire, if whole parts of the country will consider it proof that Osama – I mean Obama is a terrorist (see how confused Chris Matthews got)
In response to your thoughts about people being angry because their private thoughts have been illustrated.
I’m not so sure most people are angry because their thoughts have been illustrated, but rather because the thoughts of many who oppose or are unsure about Obama have been illustrated.
Anyway – idiotic nonetheless.

the new yorker has also called it “satire”. i just call it rude
