that’s going to be rough in florida

hogansthe city of brooksville (rural community of the year in 2000), florida has tired of the tacky image that some of their employees promote–those who don’t wear deoderant, underwear, shirts that cover their bellies and dare to show outrageous tattoos and piercings in other places than their ears.  to prevent this kind of tackiness, brooksville’s city council passed a dress and appearance policy that mandates that employees wear deoderant, underwear, clothing that covers their bellies, tattoos, piercings, and um, open wounds.  the dissenting vote came from the mayor of the city, joe bernardini who raised a very reasonable logistical objection: “they said you had to wear undergarments…but who’s going to be the judge of that?…who’s staring to see if that person doesn’t have underwear on?”  what he really meant was, i’m so not going to be responsible for policing the  coinslot.
