that’s why paris was after 50…
light brown is the new black…it’s all making sense now.
a recent article in usa today indicates that americans attitudes toward multi-racial americans is changing. thanks to barack obama, halle berry, derek jeter, tiger woods, and nicole richie* “you’re likely to hear there’s more outward acceptance now than in decades past for biracial couples, adopted children who don’t share the ethnicity of either parent, and so-called “non-mixed” members of multiracial families.”
Some other interesting facts from a Pew Research Center poll include:
- In 1972, 39% of Americans said marrying someone of a different race should be illegal; in 2002 that dropped to 9.9%
- In 1987, 48% of people thought it was ok for blacks and whites to date; in 2003 that number rose to 75%
before you dust off your old copy of mccartney and jackson’s ebony and ivory, note that rachel lerman– a bi-racial woman married to a caucausian man of spanish/cuban decent–interviewed for this story described the t-shirt she just ordered for her son miguel (a little boy with straight hair and blue eyes). the t-shirt reads: she’s my mommy not my nanny
* i think nicole is straight up black.

Those are some crazy stats.
I just hope in that picture that 50 didn’t hook up with Paris.
Thanks for following me on twitter!!
I thought that Nicole Richie was straight up Black too, but wikipedia (a totally unreliable source says)
Nicole Camille Escovedo
September 21, 1981 (1981-09-21) (age 26)
Berkeley, California, United States
I’m wondering if that last name Escovedo suggests that she is a different ethnicity entirely.
IN-tresting. At least to me.
I do find it also intriguing that some people still think that interracial marriages should be ILLEGAL. Seriously?
i read some other source that said she identifies as black.
but the statistics are what kills me. 1 in 10 people think interracial marriage should be illeagal. and it just moved over “it’s alright for the races to mix, but the SEXES…no way”.
meanwhile…oil is at an all time high AGAIN. the heartland is under water AGAIN. kandahar is under attack AGAIN.
I have been looking looking around for this kind of information. Will you post some more in future? I’ll be grateful if you will.

I’m just amazed that nearly 10% of the US population still believed in 2002 that mixed marriage should be illegal.
