the burka and…pants?

pariseveryone loves (or hates) the french and particularly the parisians because they are so, how do you say, eh, progressive? get a load of this–there’s a law on the books that prevents women from wearing pants–a law that’s been around in some form or another since 1800 (they modified it to allow for bike rides).  over the years there have been many attempts to eliminate the law, but none of them have been successful (the police have said it’s better not to enforce the law than to change it).  funny the police have been a reluctant to change it, given that lady cops in the city are required to wear pants.

so i wonder why they’ve banned the burka. i also wonder whether this woman is hiding from the popo ’cause she’s wearing pants.
