tiger has an out: blame it on the kids
the university of denver just produced results from an 8 year study of married couples and found that “kids curb marital satisfaction.” the study of 218 couples showed that the ones with kids experienced a 90% decrease in marital satisfaction. it goes on to say that while couples without kids experience a decline in satisfaction over time “having a baby accelerates the deterioration, especially seen during periods of adjustment right after the birth of a child.”
but wait, there’s more. another study out of texas a&m says that parents are generally more depressed than childless adults and “couples who lived together before marriage experienced more problems after the birth of a child than those who lived separately before marriage, as did those whose parents fought or divorced.”
thanks to a loyal reader hambutt for sending us this article. hambutt is blissfully happy, thanks to the hambutt’s lovely spouse, precious two children, and um, i assume a lot of anti-depressants.
