when we talked about book burning and footlose last time we were kidding. this time it’s real. the people of the amazing grace baptist church in north carolina are holding a good old fashioned halloween book burning to get rid of satan’s work. the books they’ll burn include non king james versions of the bible, books by popular religious authors (the pope, mother teresa, rick warren, and billy graham), and some country music.
they use a few verses from, of course, the king james bible (acts 19:18-20) to justify the deed–”and many that believed, came and confessed and shewed their deeds. many of them also which used curious arts, brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. so mightily grew the word of god and prevailed.”
the church’s pastor, marc grizzard said “i believe the king james version is god’s preserved, inspired, inerrant and infallible word of god.”
