you are what you eat
men’s health’s “eat this, not that” series is the gift that keeps on giving. even though the magazine’s publisher, dave zincenko doesn’t take his own advice (see dave with his girlfriend to the left, and a recent post on fameballer julia allison’s blog here)–we think his detailed analysis of gross foods is right on the money. the 2009 list of the worst foods you could possibly eat include:
- blimpie veggie supreme (12″) - a sandwich often thought of as a “healthy” junk food is actually a three cheese sandwhich that can torpedo your entire day. it has 1,106 calories, 56 g fat (33 g saturated fat), 2,831 mg sodium, 96 g carbohydrates.
- chili’s pepper pals country-fried chicken crispers with ranch dressing and homestyle fries – a treat for kids that will have them at a fat farm by age 13. the meal includes 1,110 calories, 82 g fat (15 g saturated), 1,980 mg sodium, and 56 g carbohydrates.
- romano’s macaroni grill dessert ravioli – order this sweet treat to end the meal and your rear end will will be huge. it has 1,630 calories, 74 g fat, 33 g saturated fat,1,150 mg sodium, and 223 g carbohydrates.
- chili’s smokehouse bacon triple-the-cheese big mouth burger with jalapeno ranch dressing – 3 times is so not the charm with this burger containing 2,040 calories, 150 g fat (53 g saturated), 110 g protein, and 4,900 mg sodium.
luckily, dave was kind enough to give us a list of healthy alternatives that you can find here.
