bill not-so-much hemmer
in an interview with the pittsburgh post-gazette, we get the usual bill hemmer stuff (covering war zones, growing up in cinncinati) but there’s also some interesting stuff (he’s good with numbers, new reporter vs opinion news). okay, maybe the questions are not really new but if you listen to the 15+ minute audio of the interview instead of reading the edited version, you get a lot more in the responses than we’ve read in other similar interviews. less fluffy than the recent media beat interview but not as revealing as the old new york magazine profile.
*one thing you might want to note is the interviewer is not so good with numbers. hemmer is 45, not 42 as stated in the intro of the written article. just for fun, i’ve used a photo from 2006, when hemmer was 42. the man hasn’t aged a bit.

yea scarlet, i got some feedback the audio interview isn’t any better than the usual. i think i was in a mood when i heard it.
scarlet, why’d you have to go and say that with the tumbling of the hemmer? i wonder if he got dumped by bombshell mcgee.
I think maybe Sacred Bird should ask the Flying Fish for a no-holds-barred interview. No! Even better! Chad Cleanly should interview Bill!
Nah, he got dumped by his “model” girlfriend who apparently has gone the one name route. She’s just “Dara” now. Thinks it’ll help her career, I expect. Not doing movies with Pauly Shore would’ve been wiser.
Has to be Pauly. She has definitely been part of his life to the point she was part of the Hemmer holiday celebrations. Not sure where the idea of she dumped him comes from however?
His girlfriend (not dara) move out a while ago, not sure if that is what you
are all referring to. I hear it wasn’t pretty but everyone that knows the details have been very mum about what happened.
He’s known dara for a while now but not sure if it was ever serious.
Wenchie, everything you read or hear should be taken with a grain of salt unless bill has told you to your face, and even then bill has been known to be evasive about his personal life. People have really latched on the possible dara matching. I think it’s because many feel like it’s ok to hate her because of her professional life. I personally know bill et al, although not well, but I get that you don’t know me so it’s no different than what you read elsewhere.
Well, than it really is unfortunate that he was misleading those in attendance at the ‘08 Knittle Tournament. But it is his life, of course, and he is free to live it as he sees fit. 
Whatever works for him.
….unless he’s really mind numbingly boring and he doesn’t want anyone to know it so he pretends to be mind numbingly boring to throw everyone off and make them think he actually isn’t mind numbingly boring and does the same stuff we do, like watch “Idol” in his underwear while eating Dortios but jets off to exotic places to watch “Idol” in his underwear while eating PORK RINDS!
Don’t know why but in my experience he’s a pretty private person, which is my guess on why he always gives the same on-point answers in interviews (as the authors of this site likes to point out)
If people stop analyzing everything he says or does in his personal life, maybe he’d feel free to live his life the way he wanted to.
that was beautiful AL, I almost cried, really i did. if i closed my eyes, i could read that last sentence and think of my sacred bird. but anyway, regarding the first sentence…
I (180) RARELY cover monsieur hemmer…in fact, haven’t written a story about the dude since october of ‘08 (though admittedly i’ve mentioned him or connected him to a more than a few stories since then). and this is because:
a) it’s boring
b) it’s boring
c) it’s boring
until he says something new–which is his right not to–i may not even mention him from here on out b/c even more than i cannot stand ohio (drive through it someday, you’ll get it) i can’t stand hearing how great it is over and over and over again.
let’s talk about something else? like, for example, how the airlines are impossible and/or how it’s almost tax time?

But it’s not so cool that you make fun of and try to steer off this discussion when I was merely trying to respond to questions that were directed to me. If you only want to hear your own voice, then I suggest you turn off your comments.

my goal isn’t to hear my own voice, and we certainly like you commenting on our site. i was just trying to move the conversation elsewhere. as i said above–let’s talk about taxes or something b/c we’ve done this story to DEATH. get it, death and taxes?

Ah…too bad this blog is no more…But in case someone stumbles upon it in a search about Bill Hemmer I can confirm (and by photos) that, contrary to what AL posted, Bill and Dara were indeed a serious couple as of Fall 2010….((it is now spring 2011))…. Not sure who AL was referrng too, but the intimate photos I have seen (summer 2010) show that Bill and Dara very much a loving couple

There’s hope yet for them what wants to give him a tumble!
