flying fish out of water…

well, he’s finally done it. our own flying fish, bill hemmer, has done hopped a plane and landed in iraq. after a two year hiatus, he’s returned to the region that made him famous. i was wondering when bill was going to hit the road cause i was saying to 630 that every article i read about him from the piece in cincinnati gentleman to that hamptons mag, hemmer makes it clear that while he likes the good things in life (a game of cornhole, a day at the beach, new york city) he is a no-frills traveler that likes to go to the story. all of that said, the last time i remember boyfriend heading out of town was to minnesota to cover the bridge story. oh, and i guess he went to cushy london to interview american barack obama.

i was lucky enough to catch some of his reporting this morning and i gotta admit, bill looks better when he’s out of the suit and tie and in street clothes (i wonder if he followed this guy’s advice when he was packing). stay safe flying fish and please say ‘hi’ to the desert iguana, richard engel, for me when you see him.
