i wonder if nbc flew in "the donald" to deliver the message…
in a related story, 630, i found this one in the aftermath of our captain’s (tim russert’s) death. the woman that updated wikipedia with the news about russert’s death 40 minutes before nbc news did was fired. why is this wrong? you may ask.
- i respect the fact that news agencies wanted to get word to the family before it was reported on tv but let’s remember, the family was in italy.
- i think it was highly unlikely that luke russert and maureen orth were actively reading the tim russert wikipedia page (they live with the guy).
- finding out that way couldn’t have been any more disturbing than the 15 minute interview that matt lauer put luke through three days after his dad’s death. in it, matt indulged in a ratings grabbing trip down memory lane about the best memories of tim and his love for his work, family, and the boss. touching but kinda rude (a mon avis).
basically, a news agency fired the woman for um, reporting the news.
