bill finally becomes law today
obama might’ve signing the bill into law today, but healthcare is not quite done yet. there are some nitty gritty details the senate still needs to work out between the senate bill and the proposed changes to that bill in what is being called the reconciliation bill. the new york times does a great job at detailing the difference but what it comes down to is one bill (the senate) cost $871 billion dollars and will cover 31 million people, leaving 23 million uninsured while the other, the reconciliation bill, will cost $940 billion and insure 32 million people, leaving 22 million uninsured. not that this bill wasn’t sorely needed but when you think about it, it’s crazy that it’s considered such a momentous occasional since it still leaves 40-42% of the population uninsured.
