don’t these people have caller id?
you all remember how governor sarah palin was duped by a radio dj pretending to be french president/big man on campus/boy toy nicolas sarkozy? well, it’s happened two more times.
a man pretending to be India’s foreign minister called pakistan’s president and talked in a “threatening” manner. dude was so credible, he caused pakistan to put its air force on high alert and put into place intense back channel diplomacy (condoleeza rice had to step in).
florida congressional representative ileana ros-lehtinen hung up on president-elect barack obama when he called to congratulate her on her re-election. after she hung up on obama, she hung up on his chief of staff rahm emmanual who had called to convince her it really was obama on the first call–she said she didn’t want to be “punk’d”.
this is why i, like more and more peeps prefer text and twitter messaging. though people seem to be suspicious of twitter too.
