the u.s. census form for 2010 intentionally includes the word “negro” so that it can be more inclusive. of the change, bureau spokesperson jack martin says “Many older African-Americans identified themselves that way, and many still do…Those who identify themselves as Negroes need to be included.”
of course, there is considerable debate as to whether the term is appropriate and younger blacks find it a bit offensive, to say the least. i’m thinking if they asked snoop what he thinks, he’d say they’ve been sippin’ too much gin and juice.
