striking out
public and private sector employees across the france are planning to strike because they believe the country hasn’t done enough to protect jobs and salary wages. over the next year, it’s expected that unemployment in france will shoot up to 10% as 350,000 more jobs are eliminated. while sympathetic to the concerns, president sarkozy has said there isn’t much he can do beyond the $3.2B euro cash infusion the government let loose on the economy already.
this is the second nation-wide strike this year. in january, 1 million people participated in a similar event. pretty soon i think the french are going to notify their employees if they plan to actually show up for work.
