i’m not sure how we missed this, but uh, the russians are in the market for 3200 white mice (as advertised on the official website of the russian federation). according to the this story the
“Federal Guard Service, the Russian equivalent of the American Secret Service and guardian of both Vladimir Putin’s security and the Kremlin grounds, advertised for the rodents, specifying that they should be female, white, laboratory-bred and weighing no more than 18 grams (just over half an ounce). Delivery to be arranged by the end of the year.”
the article continues by discussing some of the theories about the order
- the mice were needed for experiments with polonium210, the radioactive poison used to kill Alexander Litvinenko, the former KGB agent, in London.
- they were needed as official food tasters for Putin or for his bff Dmitry Medvedev
my bet is that putin plans to punk one of the attendees jan brady style at next week’s slumber party in bucharest. i also heard that putin is for laughs, going to sport jan’s hairstyle at the meeting.
