the last time i’ll complain about a weak cellphone signal
most folks i know are happy to find free public wi-fi but not some folks in santa fe. they say the city is discriminating against them and that it’s in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act because the city has wi-fi signals installed in public locations. this group claims to be highly sensitive to certain types of electric fields, including wireless internet and cell phones. the city seems to be taking the claim seriously and is looking into whether putting up wi-fi signals can be considered discrimination (my guess, no). one city council, however, dismisses the claim and thinks these electrosenstive folks need to get with the times, “it’s not 1692, it’s 2008” (i kinda agree). seems this kind of “allergy” is quite controversial and there are no physical treatments. makes you wonder, in this day and age, where can one go to escape all the cell phone and wireless signals floating out there?
