everywhere a tweet tweet
“After I enter the atmosphere I will get very hot!”
“That’s right! A loose screw on Mars can’t stop me now”
these are just some of the tweets from nasa’s mars phoenix lander since it arrived on mars a couple of weeks ago. for the next few months, the phoenix lander will be twittering to send back daily updates.
in april, james karl buck notified friends he was detained in egypt with twitter. now he’s using twitter again to try to release his translator.
twittering is a buzz word these days and individuals, as well as companies, are starting to really catch on. how is this different than a facebook or any of the social networking services out there you ask? i’m not sure how to best describe it’s uniqueness, it serves the same pupose of keeping you in touch with others and helping you build a network but with 140 characters or less. maybe that’s it’s so addicting, it’s bare bones and doesn’t require much committment. all you’re able to do is send 140 characters, nothing else. it takes a couple of minutes to setup and only a few seconds to send a tweet.
if you don’t already have a twitter account, sign up now. it’s easy and you twitter anywhere…even from mars. here’s a few people i’m following you can add to your network to get started:
- cnn breaking news http://twitter.com/cnnbrk
- barack obama http://twitter.com/BarackObama
- brian stelter, nytimes media reporter http://twitter.com/brianstelter
- craig newmark, founder of craigslists http://twitter.com/craignewmark
- kevin rose, founder of digg http://twitter.com/kevinrose
- julia allison, time out dating columnist http://twitter.com/juliaallison
- mars phoenix lander http://twitter.com/MarsPhoenix
- fake anderson cooper http://twitter.com/AndersonCooper
- fake john mccain http://twitter.com/fakejohnmccain
- and of course, sacredbird http://twitter.com/sacredbird
got some other interesting ones we can share?
**if you’re already twittering and you’re pissed that i’m recruiting more members to a site is already on overload, check out http://www.twiddict.com/ it’s a new service that will hold your tweets when twitter is down and send it once it’s back up.
