micrsoft released its revamped search engine, previously called live search now called bing, this past weekend. not content to just call it a search engine, microsoft says that bing is a “decision engine”, it helps you find the information you need to make decisions. for categories like travel, the results for a search will provide not only the info you’re looking for but also links to sites where you can make purchases and find links of other related info. the initial areas that will offer the “decision engine” services will be in four areas – helping you make purchase decisions, plan a trip, locating a local business and researching health related issues.
however, one area bing might’ve already outdone itself on is in its search of videos. security experts have already discovered that one can easily find and view explicit porn videos without even leaving the search engine page since bing includes an autoplay feature that allows users to preview videos. i’m thinking this might not be a security breach… it just might be microsoft’s strategy to overtake overtake search engine king google.
