the new nano
here in the states, when we hear the word nano, our first thought is the ipod. in india it will soon be the car. the tata nano will debut in india as the world’s cheapest car in july costing around $2000 dollars. meant to be the “people’s car”, the ipod was initially conceptualized to give many the ability to replace their bikes or motorcycles with a safer option. due to cost, only 7 in 1,000 indians can afford to own a car. because of the already overwhelming demand, the first 100,000 cars will be sold via lottery.
although the nano is initially only available in india, retooled models to meet different safety standards are already being worked on for the europe and the us.
