this guy really likes tightropes
you might’ve seen bulgarian architect martin angelov’s futuristic alternative transportation system a little while back when he won the line of site award, an international architecture competition. named kolelinia, it was basically a system of bike lanes built on tightropes so that bikes can travel above cars. this was a cool idea and i can see it working in some cities but would imagine when implemented, the tightrope-like structure would be a wider path, like a.. uh, bike lane. now it seems angelov has built off of his original idea and come up with a new system, named kolelinio (“when flying into the city is not only science fiction”). this time, humans put on a backup, clip themselves to a tightrope and zip through the city. this could work in some smaller cities but I can’t imagine it in a large city like new york. there would be a mess of traffic backup at the intersections. what do you think? would you want to strap on a backpack to travel through your town?
