(and yes, they look exactly alike.)

Moderate and liberal Republicans are 11 percentage points less likely to see Democrats as friendly toward religion than they were last year (21% in 2009 vs. 32% in 2008). The number of independents describing the Democrats as friendly toward religion is down nine points (from 35% to 26%), and the number of conservative and moderate Democrats taking this view is down eight points (from 50% to 42%). At the same time, 56% of liberal Democrats view their political party as friendly toward religion, identical to last year’s level.”

i’m wondering if the dems and obama would have done better after that little ‘come to jesus’ meeting held on friday in baltimore.

not sure I want this to be true about rumors debates the age old question: daytime sacred bird (aka anderson cooper) or nighttime sacred bird? in my dream world, it would be both.

spring ’10 trends gives us some ideas on how can some of our favorite (anderson cooper and bill hemmer) and not so favorite (glenn beck and rush limbaugh) news men may stay on top of the men’s runway fashion trend. hint: there might be a little bling involved.

recycling is good gives us a peek into how some news anchors might be making (or saving) a few extra bucks.

the senate passed the health care bill in time for them to head home for the holidays. there’s still a long road ahead though as the house of representative and the senate must now work on reconciling the differences in the two bills (the house of rep has their own). one of the biggest differences is what has been referred to as the public option.

obama is in hawaii for the holidays. frankly, i’m getting tired (and jealous) of watching cnn’s ed henry, the white house correspondent, filing in his reports from the beach.

some radical nigerian dude tried to blow up a plane headed to detriot christmas day with a bomb made of powder and liquid. luckily something went wrong, some passengers and crew jumped him and he’s now got some nasty burns on his leg. because he was in the bathroom presumably assembling the bomb and then hid it with a blanket, international travelers are currently not allowed to leave their seats an hour before landing nor use pillows and blankets. and because everyone is super viligiant, there was another scare on the same flight a day later when another dude was in the bathroom a little too long and he didn’t like being asked about it.

the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well as one of the passengers in the debacle plane blow-up incident made 18k on the photo he took of the bomber being restrained by officials. oh and since he was one of the passengers who helped to subdue the bomber, he’s decided that in addition to his 15 minutes of fame, he should be paid if he’s going to do any interviews.

add domestic violence to the list of drugs and alcoholism for charlie sheen. he was arrested for going after his wife with a knife.

amazon’s kindle is the most gifted item in amazon history (pretty impressive when you consider all the crap amazon sells) and kindle e-books outsold regular books on christmas day (not surprising since people probably unwrapped their gifts only to discover they gotta shell money out to use it).

and new-ish today, a new round of deadly protests broke out in iran as opposition to the election results from june continue. so far ten are reported dead including the newphew of mousavi, the opposition leader.

the news media is getting everyone in trouble these days. a reporter that provided an abrabic translation of a chinese advertisement for the artificial virginity hymen kit got conservative members of the parliament in egypt all up in a tizzy. according to the distributor’s website, for 29.90 us dollars, you get a “artificial hymen” which will “ozze out a liquid that look like blood not too much but just the right amount.”

the conservatives are worried the kit will make egyptian women more likely have sex before marriage. said abdel moati bayoumi, a prominent egyptian religious scholar “I think this should absolutely not be allowed to be exported because it brings more harm than benefits. Whoever does it (imports it) should be punished.” others, like author and blogger marwa rakha, think the kit can empower women, giving them options in a culture that allows men to do as they please but not women. “It sticks it in the face of every male hypocrite,” she said.

sex before marriage in many parts of the middle east is still considered a no-no with women going as far as having their hymen reattached to avoid punishment. i say if a $30 (us) dollar kit, gross as it may be, helps women avoid punishment or worse yet, death, then that’s a product that the market needs.

i gotta admit, there are days like today when i just can’t find any new stories to write a whole blog post about. 180 is a lot better at this but i go through phases where i am indifferent to every story. where does that leave you to get your news, you ask? well, if you look to the right on the sidebar, you’ll see we’ve already got that covered. under the recent comments section we have a section called stories we’re reading and a section called what we’re taking about on twitter. check them out throughout the day to get a snapshot of what’s going on in the world. and if you’re reading some interesting stuff we should know about, email us at sb@sacredbird.com cause we’re all about getting and sharing the news you can use.

with his luck and apparent lack of staff to do damage control, how in the world did mark sanford become the governor of south carolina?

first he disappears on a secret trip his wife doesn’t care about and staff doesn’t know about. after some inquiries, his staff said he was hiking on the appalachian trail (it’s still unclear if his staff really believed it or if they were making it up). then because of all the media speculation surrounding his disappearance, the press got hot on his trail and caught him getting off a plane from buenos aires. forced to provide some kind of explanation, he gives a press conference with clearly what was not a well prepared speech admitting that he had been in argentina visiting his mistress. after that he finally catches a break off of someone else’s tragedy, michael jackson’s death dominated the media and they left him alone, at least for a few days. today sanford’s back in the news admitting that he has spent more time than he originally admitted to with his “soul mate”, the mistress. originally he said he only saw her 3 times, now it’s 7. not only that, the man might’ve been hanging with the wallabies cause he also said that in his 20 years of marriage, in addition to his current mistress, he’s “crossed the lines” several times with other women but did not cross the “ultimate line. ”

when will the train wreck end?

i wonder why he didn’t call the new agency miller gold?
