i can’t even get 2 guys to fill out a weekly form
on your way back from the olympics in beijing, you might want to stop in north korea (if they let you in that is) and catch the arirang festival. the 100,000 gymnastics show consists of dancers, musicians, children and the military. said to include north koreans from many “sections of society”, the largest group of performers make up what has been called the human video wall where people hold up synchronized placecards to create images. looking at the photos below, you’d get an idea of scale of coordination involved to create the background images.
this has got to be an amazing show to see in person. youtube has a bunch of videos of shows from previous years but it doesn’t do it justice.
greta van susteren from fox new’s on the wire is in north korea and she’s got some great photos on her blog. here’s a few of them:

* if you look super close in the above photo, you can see that there are people holding up the placecards that make up the “video wall” in the background.
* if you look close in this above photo, you can see that the background is made up of individual pieces of paper.
amazing they can get 100,000 people to do exactly what they are suppose to at exactly the right time. i guess thats one of the advantages of communism.
